Lifting the flagpoles at the Rijksmuseum

In the two towers of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, four flagpoles, each 8 metres long, are lifted in each tower. For this purpose four Gebuwin winches are used per tower. The TL150 gear winch is very suitable for this application. Besides that the winch is very compact, which makes lifting in a small room more pleasant. In addition the winch has a very high lifting efficiency, which enables fast lifting of the flagpoles.

At the beginning of August, Amsterdam comes alive with celebration during the annual Amsterdam Gay Pride event, showcasing the Netherlands’ reputation as one of the most liberal countries in the world. The event draws locals and international visitors alike to honor LGBTQ+ culture and rights through parades, performances, and parties.

In celebration, the Rijksmuseum hosts a special tour focusing on the history of homosexuality in the Netherlands, offering insight into the nation’s journey towards inclusivity and equal rights. For this occasion, the iconic rainbow flag is proudly displayed on the museum’s facade, raised with the help of a Gebuwin winch.
