It’s an avenue for passengers boarding or exiting the vessel, and a vital conduit for loading, unloading, and vessel maintenance activities.

Our client used a riding ladder with a fixed-length gangway, which was operated using a manual winch. However, the unique environmental challenges of the maritime industry necessitated a winch that could withstand the corrosive effects of seawater and the potential hazards of an ATEX Zone 2 environment.

Our solution is a stainless steel worm gear hand winch. This sturdy and versatile tool, made from full stainless steel 316 grade, is designed to resist seawater corrosion – ensuring reliable, long-lasting performance. But durability wasn’t the only box this winch ticked. It was also ATEX certified for Zone 2, making it safe for use in areas where flammable gases or vapors are occasionally present.
