Changing operation from electric to manual
With the recent shift to a more sustainable world, among others the infrastructure sector is faced with the challenge of adapting existing systems to realise this shift. In the province of Zuid-Holland in the Netherlands the operation of a drawbridge was changed from electric to manual using a gearbox with load pressure break from Gebuwin.
Moveable roof construction
This picture shows a small shed with a number of winches from Gebuwin, WW250, attached to the sides. This shed has a moveable roof construction with safety winches. The shed used to be, and is still, used for storing hay bales. The roof of the shed serves to protect the growing pile of hay from the rain and spoilage. As the pile of hay grows and gets higher, the roof has to be lifted.
This method of storing hay is centuries old and therefore has eight different mechanisms for lifting the roof. Nowadays, winches are used to lift the roof of the hay shed as seen in the picture.
Lifting flagpole in Rijksmuseum
In the two towers of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, four flagpoles, each 8 metres long, are lifted in each tower. For this purpose four Gebuwin winches are used per tower. The TL150 spur gear winch is very suitable for this application. Besides that the winch is very compact, which makes lifting in a small room more pleasant. In addition the winch has a very high lifting efficiency, which enables fast lifting of the flagpoles.
Lifting a Christmas tree
Every year a Christmas tree is lifted in the Salisbury Cathedral in the United Kingdom. This Christmas tree is lifted with a battery drill winch from Gebuwin. There is little room in the Salisbury Cathedral and there are also very few electrical outlets to connect an electric winch, hence the choiche for our WA200 battery drill winch.
Operating curtains
Our winches are used for many different applications and this is one of them. In a palace in Poland our hand winches, CW700, are being used to operate the large curtains. Because these curtains are so large it is difficult to easily operate them by hand. By turning the crank of the Gebuwin hand winch, the curtains are being opened and closed.
Loading wolf packs
One of our clients needed one of our davit cranes, SD125. He was looking for a solution to load and unload 20 to 50 kg boxes (wolf packs) on top of their Toyota mega cruiser BXD10 without ‘breaking their backs’. The Toyota was about 2 metres tall and for this reason we provided them with our davit crane, which is capable of lifting 125 kg and is about 2 metres tall aswell.
Creating movement in a flower parade
During the anual flower parade in our home town, a manual winch, WW1500 was being used. The purpose of he winch was to lift both arms of the construction. Gebuwin, as a company from Winterswijk, likes to contribute to a local event and thus we allowed CorsoClub Meddo to use the winch.
Railway bridge
Our hand winch is being used to position a horizontally movable bridge in the UK. This bridge enables a train to cross a canal. Unlike traditional bridges that move vertically to allow boats to pass, this one moves horizontally. The required pulling force is approximately 4 tons, and the bridge needs to be moved about 25 meters horizontally.
As there is no permanent power supply at the site, a manual winch combined with a highly powerful drill, our EM5000, was chosen. This setup allows a single operator to effortlessly move the bridge horizontally.
